THE ART OF SOCIALIZING

Just started University officially this is my first time going to  University obviously some part of me is excited because it's a field of new opportunities waiting to be grasped. But one of the things I've heard constantly is “ you need to make friends in university” To me, it sounds like a warning or a threat because it sounds like it's compulsory. Obviously socializing with people in general not only in University is important for the future. But no one tells you how hard it is to make acquaintances or socialize.

  As someone who hasn't had any form of social interaction for at least three years due to some issues trying to socialize, it's really hard to internalize from not socializing to having to socialize at a fast pace, and if there's anything I've learnt about myself it's the fact that I usually go at my own pace. I'm not going to lie or discredit the fact that you need to socialize because that's another form of networking that brings so many opportunities that's beyond imagination “ a closed mouth is a closed opportunity” but, considering the fact I'm someone with immense social anxiety I really do not want to do it but I have to constantly remind myself that it's really important to put myself out there because I DO WANT opportunities!

  To top it up I took a course that will put me out there regardless of where I find myself tomorrow. So if you are like me finding it really hard and overwhelming to socialize or even as little as keeping a conversation well we have to keep reminding ourselves that it's worth the try to put yourself in a different situation in other to get a different and better results and it's better you just don't think sometimes because overthinking a situation or a conversation “lol” is just willinging self sabotaging yourself.

Nobody really tells us how hard it is so JUST DO IT AND PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE! It obviously won't get better at first but it's worth a try.
